PTA School Life
Bulletin Boards & Cafeteria Boards
Keep the Mar Vista community informed and inspired! This committee is responsible for putting up fresh flyers and notices on school bulletin boards and cafeteria boards throughout the year. It's one of the most visible ways to make sure every family stays in the loop on events, programs, and announcements.

How to help: A flexible, low-key role — great if you like being on campus and have an eye for keeping things neat and current. Swap out flyers on your own schedule!
Dolphin News is the official Mar Vista school newsletter, published twice a year. It's a beautiful snapshot of what's happening in our school community — featuring stories, photos, program highlights, and family news. A great way to celebrate the richness of life at Mar Vista!

How to help: Writers, editors, photographers, and layout enthusiasts are all welcome. Help tell the Mar Vista story!

Lost and Found
Jackets, water bottles, lunch bags — lost items pile up fast! The Lost and Found committee keeps the school's lost items organized so families can find what belongs to them. On the last school day of each month, any remaining unclaimed clothing is donated to families in need.

How to help: Help sort and organize items periodically throughout the month. A practical, hands-on way to serve the community!
Membership
PTA membership is the foundation of everything we do! The Membership committee recruits families, staff, and community members to join Mar Vista PTA for just $15 a year. Every new member strengthens our voice and our ability to support students.

How to help: Help spread the word, set up the membership table at school events, and welcome new members into the community. A friendly, outward-facing role!
New Parent Info Tours
Help prospective Mar Vista families fall in love with our school! Once a month on Tuesday mornings, this committee leads guided tours of the campus for families who are considering enrolling. These tours are often the first impression new families get of our community — and they matter.

How to help: Lead or assist with a monthly tour. A welcoming, low-time-commitment role that has a big impact on school enrollment and community growth!
Room parents are the vital link between teachers, administration, parent groups, and families. They consolidate communications into one or two weekly emails, keeping everyone informed without overload. Room parents also recruit volunteers for a wide range of classroom activities throughout the year.

How to help: Take on this meaningful leadership role for your child's classroom. You'll become a central connector in your class community!

School Beautification
Several times a year, the Mar Vista community gathers on a Saturday to improve and beautify our campus through painting, gardening, carpentry, cleaning, and more. It's a joyful, hands-on way to take pride in our school.

How to help: Recruit participants, or just show up with enthusiasm! All skill levels needed — from green thumbs to DIY enthusiasts.
Social Media
Keep the Mar Vista PTA community engaged and informed online! This committee manages the PTA's Instagram account, sharing event highlights, program news, school shoutouts, and community updates. A vibrant social media presence helps us reach more families and build community beyond the school gates.

How to help: Perfect for someone who loves creating content and connecting with people online. Bring your creativity and help tell our school's story!
Traffic & Safety — Valet Program
Our Valet ambassadors make car drop-off smooth and safe for everyone. Parent volunteers open doors and help students out of vehicles at the Granville and Stoner entrances — no fumbling with backpacks for parents! Each grade takes a turn staffing the valet lines each month.

How to help: Sign up for at least two shifts during your grade's month. A quick, impactful way to help!
PTA Website
Keep the Mar Vista PTA website up to date and easy to navigate for all families. The Website committee maintains current content — event listings, committee info, forms, and resources — so every family always knows what's happening and how to get involved.

How to help: Ideal for someone comfortable with basic web editing. Help make our online home a welcoming and useful resource for the whole community!
Yearbook
Mar Vista partners with TreeRing to produce a beautiful annual yearbook — and for every yearbook sold, a tree is planted! Parents can personalize two pages in their child's copy. The yearbook captures the memories that families will treasure for years.

How to help: Submit photos from school events throughout the year, assist with layout design, and help distribute yearbooks in the spring.
